Winemaker Notes
Vina Zorzal Cuatro del Cuatro is a clear, bright, mid-intensity, garnet color. The aromas are clean and intense. Fruits of the forest and red fruit aromas with hints of earthiness and spice. On the palate, dry and fresh, marked acidity. Broad and balanced, full and meaty with flavours of fruits of the forest and spice. Some attractive bitterness and green notes, characteristic of the grape variety. A wine with minerality and distinctive character. Persistent on the palate.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The varietal Graciano 2019 Cuatro del Cuatro reflects the warm and healthy vintage with a wine with 13.93% alcohol and a low pH of 3.35 from vineyards in Corella on stony soils. The grapes fermented in stainless steel and the wine matured in 225-, 300- and 500-liter oak barrels for 15 months. This is a very surprising Graciano, full of personality and with a nose that combines herbal freshness and note of wild berries and flowers. This has a lighter color and a lighter body than the majority of Graciano; they say it's the strain they have. But the wine has very good depth and complexity. It's medium-bodied, combining moderate ripeness and vibrant herbal freshness. This is quite open, intense without excess and with some varietal character. Here, they select the grapes they use and the barrels.

Viña Zorzal is located in the Southern part of the Navarra DO, very close to the border of Rioja. The larger parent house of Vinícola Corellana was founded by Antonio Sanz in 1989. The guiding principles here have always been sustainability and a return to historical grape varieties. With the coming of age of Antonios' three sons, Xabier, Iñaki and Mikel, the winery Viña Zorzal was born. Like so many father/son stories, the children have adopted the idea of the father and taken it further. The farming is now organic and the focus is on making higher quality, site specific wines that respect history but also look to a brighter future.
Beyond the usual suspects, there are hundreds of red grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines, while others are better suited for use as blending grapes. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles, offering much to be discovered by the curious wine lover. In particular, Portugal and Italy are known for having a multitude of unique varieties but they can really be found in any region.
Just north of Spain’s famous Rioja region, Navarra excels in the production of full and fruit-dominant reds and good quality, dry rosés. Garnacha holds most of the land under vine, with Tempranillo coming in second place.
