Winemaker Notes

A lifted nose showing citrus freshness, the palate continues with fresh citrus and concentrated grapefruit flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied with a perfect balance of fruit and soft acid. In a vintage of this quality, all of Semillon ended up with an "A" grade and Tyrrell's Wines is incredibly pleased with the release of this Hunter Valley Semillon, easily their best.

Professional Ratings

  • 93
An appley semillon showing fresh Williams pears, dried coriander, honeysuckle and a touch of dried nettles. Medium-bodied, but it has some really good texture and apple fruit that are delivered through a bed of pretty acidity. A textured finish.

Tyrrell's Wines, Australia
Tyrrell's Wines Winery Video

In 1858, Edward Tyrrell planted his first vines in the Hunter Valley. In 1959, Murray Tyrrell took control of the winery and started producing Tyrrell’s wines under their own labels. Tyrrell’s pioneered Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Australia and quickly received international recognition. While remaining a family company, Tyrrell’s has reached out to larger wine markets: in recent years, it has expanded its traditional Hunter Valley vineyard base to other famous vineyard areas in Australia.
