Winemaker Notes

LPF is a Cab. A Cab with side-kicks like any super-hero worth his (her?) salt. Petit Verdot and Malbec help Cab express its best, enhance it, open it up to exploration. They enable the Cabernetness of Cab. That’s why the best Cab is Cab plus something. Cab plus enablers. Cab plus entourage. In palate, LPF is a tongue coating, mouth filling dominant ruler. It will not accept subtle dishes of modern cuisine. It respects only steak. Barbecue. Grilled quadrupeds. It wakes you up with a stentorian call: LPF is in the house!

Ripe aromas with dried-fruit and fig character to the plums and berries. Full-bodied. Rich, round tannins with toasted oak, berries and light coconut at the finish. A little more bottle age will bring it together. Drink or hold.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
