Winemaker Notes
Pale gold hue with bluish crystalline tints. After revealing mineral notes on the nose, the wine opens with a perfect balance of alcohol and acidity on the palate. This Sauvignon Blanc shows a nice taut structure, lovely persistence on the palate with notes that are almost saline. Ideally pairs with seafood, grilled prawns, pike perch, asparagus, Lyon-style pike quenelles, goat cheese or as an aperitif.

While the Saget family has expanded throughout the Loire, with six estates and a total of 890 acres of vines, they make this wine at their original home base in Pouilly-sur-Loire, where they farm 25 acres of sauvignon for this classical white. Fermented in stainless steel without added yeasts, then aged on the lees for six months, this wine shares toasty richness over floral lime and grapefruit flavors. It’s tensely mineral before expanding in the finish, adding fleshiness to the fruit and notes of marzipan. Enjoy it with a creamy oyster pan roast.

If ever a river and the surrounding landscapes encapsulated the French national identity and lifestyle, it would surely be the Loire and the wine regions that line it. Stretching from one side of the country to the other, the river of kings has been the homeland of our family for nine generations. Originally from Pouilly-sur-Loire, we decided over twenty years ago to head off in search of other treasures that our beautiful wine region could offer. Over the years, our quest led us along both banks of the river, reaching out to local winegrowers and terroirs. We invite you to discover the gems we found on our journey and hope to share with you our passion for one of France's finest wine regions.
Saget La Perrière signature brands epitomize the hallmark accessibility and freshness of Loire wines. Our wines embrace a unique showcase range of Loire appellations; from its original home in Pouilly sur Loire to Sancerre, Chinon, Vouvray, Anjou & Muscadet forming an unprecedented collection across the Loire Valley.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
Famous in the Loire and throughout the world for perfumed Sauvignon blanc, Pouilly-Fume sits due east, across the Loire River from Sancerre. Limestone soils with clay and flint (also called silex) contribute to the wines' freshness and often times smoky, flinty, mineral character.
