Description
Watch Rhône Valley experts Jean-Luc Colombo, Christophe Bristiel and host Gwendolyn Osborn as they take you on a tour of the Rhône River Valley, through your glass of course! We’ll begin the virtual tasting with Jean-Luc’s Côtes du Rhône Blanc, then taste Prieuré de Montézargues Rosé from the first official appellation of France and the only region dedicated to Rosé. As we turn our attention to red wine, our guests will contrast the Southern Rhône’s iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape with the hilltop Syrah from the Northern Rhône’s Cornas.
Guests include:
- Jean-Luc Colombo, Jean-Luc Colombo
- Christophe Bristiel, Prieure de Montezargues and Chateau La Nerthe
- Hosted by: Gwendolyn Osborn, Wine Educator, Wine.com
Tasting Set Includes:
- Jean-Luc Colombo Cotes du Rhone Les Abeilles Blanc
Light straw color. Intense floral aromas with scents of peach and melon followed by herbal and mineral notes. On the palate, this is a complex, crisp, and well-balanced wine with flavors of stone fruit, citrus and pear. A food-friendly wine which perfectly matches grilled lamb, pork, and assorted cheeses. - Prieure de Montezargues Tavel Rosé
This rosé wine is bright with a fuchsia pink color. A rich fruity nose showing nice little red berries notes (raspberry and strawberry). Fresh and balanced on the palate, rounded, then offering a deep finish with grapefruit notes. A Tavel rosé that is extremely pleasant, refreshing, and can be enjoyed on every occasion. - Chateau La Nerthe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge
The dark, deep, inky color of the wine shows immediately the concentration of the vintage. Nose of blackcurrants, black tea and dried flowers definitely stands out. The mouth is rich, fruity and velvety with an incredibly layered tannin structure. The wine is balanced, pure, really intense and long with incredible ageing potential. - Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Les Terres Brulees
A deep ruby-black with purple hints. Blackcurrant, dark cherries and blackberries, with spices, licorice and cocoa. A very rich mouthfeel with flavors of black fruit, jam, vanilla, spice and mineral notes. Excellent with game, beef, lamb, barbecue foods, roasted pork and a variety of other hearty dishes.
