Winemaker Notes
The dark brooding aromatics from this wine come from one of the best vintages mother nature has given Napa Valley this decade. A beautiful blend of dense lilac and violets with dark raspberry and fresh cassis on the nose. Followed by balance with ripe and fresh black and red fruits with gentle acidity and generous tannins. The wine finishes with finesse and polish.

COMMENTARY: The 2018 Récoltant Cabernet Sauvignon delivers a beautiful, classic Cabernet in a glass. TASTING NOTES: This wine brings aromas and flavors of dried leaves, dried herbs, and berries to the fore. Enjoy its persistent fruit with a grilled ribeye topped with minced shallots. (Tasted: September 24, 2020, San Francisco, CA)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley opens with classic aromas of cassis, cedar, cigar box and bright touches of mint chocolate and red cherries. The palate is medium-bodied with pure, restrained fruits, a finely grainy texture, integrated freshness and a long, mineral-driven finish. I love this classy, mineral-laced Cabernet Sauvignon from winemaker Julien Fayard.

With a pungent earthiness, this wine is silky smooth and inviting in dark black fruit, tobacco and oak. The tannins settle to show structure but in an unobtrusive way, making way for lasting notes of dark chocolate, cola and pepper.

Born from the idea of marrying great farmers with exceptional winemaking, Récoltant is a pure expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from one of the world’s most revered vinous landscapes. The result is a wine rooted in transparency, authenticity and a true sense of place.
In French, Récoltant is defined as one who grows and produces their own fruit. They use long-standing relationships to source fruit from some of Napa Valley’s best farmers and vineyards with the goal of producing a wine that represents our love and admiration for the appellation we call home that pens its own evolving story with every vintage.
One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
