Winemaker Notes
Deep golden yellow. An overwhelming variety of aromas can be seen in the glass. Elderflower, lovage, woodruff, hazelnut and salted caramel, as well as fine spices such as thyme and cloves, with delicate notes of Amalfi lemon, apricot, pineapple and peach. Demanding wine with powerful tension. The juicy, ripe acidity picks you up directly on the palate and leads elegantly over the densely woven middle section of polished tannin structure and charming enamel. Great length.

The 2019 Riesling Lämmler GG is elegant, pure and refined on the discreet nose that opens slowly to ripe and dense fruit aromas intermingled with notes of crushed stones and herbs. Round and juicy on the palate, this is an elegant, refined and balanced Lämmler that reveals its power and elegant richness only on the finish that is not bone-dry but charming. Not very long but stimulating. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork.

The Schnaitmann family have been cultivating wine grapes for over 500 years in Fellbach, however the wine estate was not founded until 1997, when Rainer Schnaitmann, who was trained in architectural studies, decided to make his own wines. In the early 1990s, convinced that the regional vineyards held unrevealed potential, Rainer studied oenology and travelled abroad to learn how to make great wines. In 2006 he was invited to join the VDP. His Pinot Noir and Lemberger wines have achieved huge success, but every vintage Rainer Schnaitmann still strives for the creation of distinctive wines. The Gault & Millau "Aufsteiger des Jahres" lists Schnaitmann amongst the 100 best wine estates in Germany; in all major wine publications, it is listed as the absolute top of Württemberg estates. In 2006, Raianer joined the "Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter" (the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates, or VDP), the youngest wine estate until then. The grapes, planted on steep vineyards, are picked by hand with a team of many people from the surrounding area of Stuttgart, which in some years can take up to 9 weeks.
Schnaitmann has been certified in organic viticulture since 2016.
Recognized as a top quality grape here since the Middle Ages, Germany retains its high reputation as a premier source of the finest Riesling. Heavily planted throughout the Rheingau and Mosel, Riesling responds splendidly to these regions’ extreme climatic and topographic challenges. Cold-hardy enough to survive freezing winters, and sturdy enough to withstand the warm sun, Riesling has enough natural acidity to maintain balance, even in wines with the highest levels of residual sugar. While high quality is possible in all points of the sweet to dry spectrum, Riesling typically produces wine with relatively low alcohol, high acidity, steely minerality, stone fruit, citrus, spice and floral notes. With age, Riesling can become truly revelatory, developing unique, complex aromatics, often with a hint of petrol.
