Winemaker Notes
An intense, full-bodied wine with flavors of dark berries and spice. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, cherry, and dark chocolate, with subtle notes of cinnamon and toasty oak. ladybugs would suggest pairing this Cabernet Sauvignon with fresh aphids or mites - but we recommend short ribs or a delicious cheeseburger. This wine can also be enjoyed with grilled veggies and a savory, mushroom risotto. The blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petite Sirah and 2% Zinfandel.

COMMENTARY: The 2018 Predator Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, supple, and easy to drink. TASTING NOTES: This wine shows red fruit and oak in its aromas and flavors. Enjoy it with grilled hamburgers and steaks. (Tasted: July 5, 2021, San Francisco, CA)
What’s good for the vine is good for the wine! The lady bug is a natural predator that feeds on insects harmful to plants and vines. "Natural predation" represented by our ladybug logo, is one of the many sustainable vineyard practices that eliminate the need for pesticides.
Predator Wines come from Lodi, California which is ideally situated between the Sierra Foothills and the San Francisco Bay Delta and benefits from cool afternoon and evening breezes, producing world-renowned red varieties. These wines are crafted for rich deep fruit flavors along with distinctive oak flavor.
Lodi is justifiably lauded for its old vine Zinfandels, but it is a production powerhouse when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon. Lodi and its surrounding area (San Joaquin County) rank third in the state in acres planted to Cab, behind Napa and Paso Robles/San Luis Obispo County. But in total tons crushed Lodi is number one by a wide margin, surpassing Napa and Paso combined. In other words, Lodi produces more Cabernet Sauvignon than anywhere else in the U.S. This more volume-driven approach to viticulture makes possible the value-oriented bottlings that so many wine drinkers reach for on an everyday basis. These offer the varietal’s classic profile of dark fruit, oak influence, subtle herbal and green pepper notes and solid structure. Try Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon from wineries like Cosentino, Ironstone, Lapis Luna and The Federalist.
