Located close to Ukiah, bordering the Redwood Valley AVA, where the Russian River flows the length of the Ukiah Valley and has been its defining landmark for eons. The fertile flood plain of this storied waterway is flanked by miles of benchland, pinole soils. The two topographies create a superb growing region reminiscent of the Medoc. The Pauli family is a multi-generation farmer. Our mission is to produce award winning, authentic Barbera. This wine is made in the Classy d’Asti style Barbera with piquant, formidable, lively acidity and moderate flavor intensity making it one of the best food wines on the planet. Brilliant Ruby color. Sleek with formidable acidity, supporting a cast of hot cinnamon candy stick, light cherry, rhubarb. A touch of smoke and white pepper rounds out this wine in its endless quest to support rich Chicken Calcitroic.

Friendly and approachable, Barbera produces wines in a wide range of styles, from youthful, fresh and fruity to serious, structured and age-worthy. Piedmont is the most famous source of Barbera; those from Asti and Alba garner the most praise. Barbera actually can adapt to many climates and enjoys success in some New World regions. Somm Secret—In the past it wasn’t common or even accepted to age Barbera in oak but today both styles—oaked and unoaked—abound and in fact most Piedmontese producers today produce both styles.
A large and diverse appellation within California’s North Coast AVA, Mendocino is home to several smaller sub-regions—most notably the Anderson Valley. This scenic region, with rolling hills covered in redwood forests as well as vineyards, is one of the world’s top producers of certified organically-grown grapes. Due to wide geographical and climatic variation, a vast array of wine styles can be found here.
