A lovely ruby red color with aromas of blackberry jam and plum. Hints of cedar and vanilla complement the flavors of summer berries and black cherry on the palate. Pleasant round texture with supple tannins.

Boysenberry and white pepper set the aromatic stage for this red, which aged 12 months in barrel. Black cherry marches to a dynamic drum- beat through a parade of briar and sage, and mouth-filling notes of plum liqueur and lilac surge on the mid-palate. It's a dashing, energetic wine with backbone buoyed by fine acidity.

The patriarch of the Maggio family, Angelo Maggio, arrived in Lodi in 1906. The first cuttings were planted in 1928 on the property of their first ranch home in Lodi, which laid the foundation for the long, winding journey that culminates in the production powerhouse that is Oak Ridge Winery.
Originally built in 1934, the winery itself was once a wine-making cooperative. As multigenerational farmers, Angelo, his son Roy, and eventually his grandson Rudy, were active participants, growing grapes to supply to winemakers around the country. When the facility was placed on the market in 2002, it was Roy’s son, Rudy, who saw this as an opportunity to expand on their long history of grape growing by producing quality wines of their very own. His intentions went far beyond a desire to dust off a piece of history; the Maggio family transformed it into a state-of-the-art winery – capable of meeting the quality, style, and volume demands of a growing and evolving marketplace.
Lodi is justifiably lauded for its old vine Zinfandels, but it is a production powerhouse when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon. Lodi and its surrounding area (San Joaquin County) rank third in the state in acres planted to Cab, behind Napa and Paso Robles/San Luis Obispo County. But in total tons crushed Lodi is number one by a wide margin, surpassing Napa and Paso combined. In other words, Lodi produces more Cabernet Sauvignon than anywhere else in the U.S. This more volume-driven approach to viticulture makes possible the value-oriented bottlings that so many wine drinkers reach for on an everyday basis.
