Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

On the nose, scents of freshly picked forest fruits with notes of salinity, reminiscent of a summer evening on the beach. On the palate, perfectly balanced, vibrant strawberry grenadine and currant, ending with remarkable freshness.

This is a ripe, fruity style. It has hints of spice and caramel, as well as raspberry, and layers of bright acidity. The wine is ready to drink.

La Fête Wine Company Founder & CEO Donae Burston was first introduced to the wonders of Côtes de Provence Rosé while celebrating his 30th birthday at the world-famous Nikki Beach Club in Saint Tropez. Burston and his friends were surrounded by people from around the world drinking what he thought was White Zinfandel, but was in fact rose from the surrounding Provence region. From that very first taste, the seeds for La Fête du Rosé were planted. La Fête Wine Company is on a mission to revitalize wine culture by redefining who drinks wine and when. La Fête embodies the St. Tropez lifestyle and ethos, where drinking wine is a part of everyday life. The team exclusively produces the best Rosé, White and Red wines from Provence for the world to enjoy. La Fête is produced in partnership with the prestigious winemakers of Château Saint-Maur, one of only 18 Cru Classé estates in Provence, situated in the iconic Gulf of St. Tropez. La Fête is a party and everyone is invited!

Whether it’s playful and fun or savory and serious, most rosé today is not your grandmother’s White Zinfandel, though that category remains strong. Pink wine has recently become quite trendy, and this time around it’s commonly quite dry. Since the pigment in red wines comes from keeping fermenting juice in contact with the grape skins for an extended period, it follows that a pink wine can be made using just a brief period of skin contact—usually just a couple of days. The resulting color depends on grape variety and winemaking style, ranging from pale salmon to deep magenta.

Cotes de Provence is an extensive but valuable appellation that includes vineyards bordering the main Provencal appellations. Its sites vary from subalpine hills, which receive the cooling effects of the mountains to the north, to the coastal St-Tropez, a region mainly influenced by the warm Mediterranean sunshine.

Here the focus is on quality rosé, as it defines four fifths of the region’s wines. Following in the rosé footsteps, a lot of new effort is going into the region’s red production as well. A new generation has turned its focus on high quality Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan. Cotes de Provence white wines, which represent a miniscule part of the region as far as volume, are nonetheless worthy of consideration and can include any combination of Clairette, Semillon, Ugni Blanc and Vermentino.
