Winemaker Notes

This wine expresses beautiful aromas layered in Granny Smith apple, tangerine, orange blossom, and honeysuckle. One Sixteen Chardonnay exhibits a crisp key lime and Meyer lemon zest. The flavors are succulent, fresh and lively on the palate, with a supple vanillin meringue texture. The finish gradually turns crisp with a final wash of mouthwatering natural acidity.

Shows intensity and vibrancy, offering a complex mix of mineral- and citrus-laced green apple flavors, with subtle touches of toasty oak. Ends with a full-bodied aftertaste that should be better after a year. Drink now. 2,912 cases made.

Here is a Chardonnay that goes right to the fruity point even as it makes no apologies for ripeness and a full dose of sweet, lightly toasty oak. It is full and slightly supple with fine proportion and balance throughout and is marked by a sense of sophistication uncommon in wines of its richness and size. It is at once bold but well-measured and stays structured even as a touch of late-arriving heat peeks through at the finish, and, if an eminently satisfying companion to richer seafood and fowl in its youth, it promises to be better yet after a wait of some two to four years.
