This 2ha parcel could not be more aptly named. The nose is a dead ringer for a dusty gravel road, framed by fern leaf, eucalyptus, and blackberry aromas. Dense and powerful on the palate, with a lumbering, muscular frame. The finish is long, angular and very tannic. A wine for the long haul, and a great example of the elegant power contained in the best 2011 Cabernets.

Vinous
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow is terrific. Bright, aromatic and gracious, the Gravelly Meadow has aged impeccably. There are no hard edges in this mid-weight, sublime Diamond Mountain Cabernet. The 2011 might not have the heft of some vintages, but it is all class through and through.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 5% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Medium to deep garnet in color, it leaps from the glass with bold, expressive notes of plum preserves, warm cassis and dried mulberries with hints of cigar box, spice cake, dusty soil and menthol plus a touch of bouquet garni. Medium-bodied, the palate bursts with vibrant, youthful black fruits plus loads of savory/spicy sparks, framed by soft tannins and lively acidity, finishing with loads of minerally layers.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
