Winemaker Notes

White-bright, clear, yet with an unctuousness when swirled in the glass. On the nose, guava, kiwi fruit and cantaloupe, all still dew-dripping. Spearmint, mint, apple-mint, and Vietnamese mint - there is a piquancy about the otherwise pure aromatics of this clean, clear white wine. And a dry palate. Sauvignon Blanc as it should be. Fruit notes of nettle and dandelion leaf; a soft rain-water texture that lingers across the palate.

Pair with squid, rice paper rolls, spicy fish soup or fish and chips.

V 90
Vinous

Bright silver-straw. High-pitched aromas of pink grapefruit, quince, jasmine and ginger with a subtle herbal nuance emerging with aeration. Chewy, focused and dry, showing good depth and nervy cut to its bright citrus and orchard fruit flavors. A lithe, precise style, showing strong finishing thrust and resonating floral and mineral notes.

Dandelion Vineyards A Walk in the Dandelion Vineyards Winery Image
Dandelion Vineyards is combination of all of our favourite local terroirs with mature and in some cases centurion plus vineyards, down-and-dirty viticulture and purist winemaking....a vinous treasure hunt in our own vineyards! At Dandelion Vineyards we really do 'wish you were here...' Our vineyards are our family, their wines our children. Serious stuff, certainly. Proper fun, absolutely.

Dandelion Vineyards are proven plantings that have stood the test of time. We grow our own grapes and source from the best of family vineyards. Our wish is to nurture the unique character of these vineyards and express their terroir in our wines.

We believe that to capture variety, vintage and vineyard requires an enlightened approach. Separating single sites, and even single soil types, vine by vine if need be.

Dandelion Vineyards is a unique fusion of vineyards and vignerons. Our wines represent decades of experience, blending the fruit of our heirloom vineyards with the finest traditions of artisan winemaking. Dandelion Vineyards combination of old vineyards and young winemaker and a couple of mates to help out in-between which we believe makes for the ideal winery.

A narrow band of hills and valleys east of the city of Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills region is a diverse landscape featuring a variety of microclimates. In general it is moderate with high-altitude areas cooler and wetter compared to its warmer, lower areas.

Piccadilly Valley, the part of Adelaide Hills closest to the city, was first staked out by a grower named Brian Croser, in the 1970s for a cool spot to grow Chardonnay, then uncommon in Australia. Today a good amount of the Chardonnay goes to winemakers outside of the region.

Producers here experiment with other cool-climate loving aromatic varieties like Pinot Gris, Viognier and Riesling. Charming sparkling wine is also possible. On its north side, lower, west-facing slopes make full-bodied Shiraz.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
