This understated, elegant study in the variety opens in beguiling aromas of floral rose before opening into a finely made, structured and gracefully constructed wine that's fully in balance. Leather, black cherry and dark chocolate highlight a midpalate of finely polished, tamed tannin and integrated oak. A bright, high-pitched style, featuring damson plum, red currant and cherry fruit flavors, laced with rose petal and jasmine notes, giving this a distinctive profile, while bramble-edged grip and bright acidity let all the elements play out through the energetic finish. Poised to age well. Best from 2021 through 2035.

Aromas of ripe fruit with blackcurrants, dark chocolate, hazelnuts and spices that follow through to a medium to full body with very fine tannins. A linear and fresh finish. Shows tightness and focus. Beautiful to drink now. But will age beautiful.

COMMENTARY: One sure thing about Cathy Corison and her winemaking dedication is that she never veers off course. The 2015 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon is "classic Cathy." TASTING NOTES: This wine is bright, vivid, and lively. Its aromas and flavors are pure red currants, some earth, and leather notes. Pair this beautiful claret style Cab with a lightly-grilled ribeye. Chewy and warm when first opened, this wine takes time to settle into cooler tones of roses, herbs and tobacco. Its dark-berry flavors are gentle and savory, its tannins fine. Cathy Corison blends this wine from fruit grown in three benchland sites west of Highway 29, at the border between Rutherford and St. Helena.

Corison Winery is a small family farm producing delicious Cabernet Sauvignons that speak of place. Over three decades, Cathy Corison and William Martin have built a special home to celebrate the best of their little corner of the world, benchland in the heart of the Napa Valley. Known for power and elegance, Corison wines are balanced to grace the table and are recognized throughout the world for their longevity and consistency.
In 1987, Cathy Corison began to purchase great Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from prime benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena, intent on making powerful and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that speaks of place. These well-drained alluvial soils had a long history of producing balanced, age-worthy, world-class wines, reaching back to the late 19th century. In her early years everything was done with smoke and mirrors, using purchased fruit and space in others’ wineries.
In 1995, with the purchase of Kronos Vineyard, a property that had been a farm for over a century, there was finally an estate vineyard and a place to build a winery. In the spring of 1999, they broke ground to build their stately Victorian-style winery barn, designed by Cathy’s husband, William Martin. The second estate vineyard, Sunbasket, a stone’s throw from the winery, was purchased in 2015 after sourcing it for over 25 years.
