Winemaker Notes

Château Fourcas Hosten is the magic of the metamorphosis of ripe fruit into a great wine that is unique every year. Testimony of what nature has consented to give and of all the care it has received. A blend of two complementary terroirs (clay-limestone, Pyrenean gravel), Château Fourcas Hosten offers the gourmet balance of crunchy fruit on the attack and a complex mouthfeel with a velvety texture. An elegant and racy tannic structure brings a lot of finesse to the finish.

The wine from this estate is now revealing the results of the investment in recent years. This is seriously structured, dense with a quality of tannins that is very fine. The crisp black currant fruits will develop well together with the firmer framework.

This offers notes of blackcurrants and black cherries with toasted walnuts, chocolate and cedar. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and grainy texture. This is tight but has some juicy and vivid dark fruit coming through with hints of leafy herbs to it. Just needs a couple of years to come together. Drink from 2025.

Located west of the Margaux township, this vineyard is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Given the same treatment as most classified growths, this wine is aged in barrel (approximately 25% new) for 15-18 months before bottling.
