Winemaker Notes
Demonstrating a traditional Côtes de Bourg style, Château du Bousquet derives its character from an exceptional plot of small-berried Malbec. Characteristic richness combines with a finesse and aromatic precision that is rarely seen in Côtes de Bourg. Typically, Château du Bousquet offers powerful dark fruits and vanilla, with smoky hints. Despite its power, the palate maintains its perfect balance. Initial boldness gives way to solid structure and a long finish.

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
Extending south where the Gironde River forks into the Dordogne (and Garonne), Cotes de Bourg is a trusted source of concentrated and often, age-worthy Merlot. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Colombard create lively and elegant whites.
