Winemaker Notes
Les Fous Sauvignon Blanc is a Single Vineyard selection sourced from their vineyards in the Uco Valley, at the base of the Andes Mountains. These chalky, volcanic soils contribute freshness and layers of floral and citrus characteristics to the wine producing an outstanding expression of this esteemed varietal with origins tracing back to the great white wines of Bordeaux.

Aromas of ripe pear, guava and dried lemon. Some flint and dried leaves. It’s medium-bodied with tangy acidity and subtle mineral hints.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
With a winning combination of cool weather, high elevation and well-draining alluvial soils, it is no surprise that Mendoza’s Uco Valley is one of the most exciting up-and-coming wine regions in Argentina. Healthy, easy-to-manage vines produce low yields of high-quality fruit, which in turn create flavorful, full-bodied wines with generous acidity.
This is the source of some of the best Malbec in Mendoza, which can range from value-priced to ultra-premium. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay also perform well here.
