Winemaker Notes

A vintage where the great vineyards showed their class with Vat 1 being the prime example of this. A wine that shows both elegance and power. It has lifted citrus aromas and a seamless palate structure showing the typical Vat 1 powerful fruit core. This is balanced by the wine’s texture and soft acid profile.

Professional Ratings

  • 97

Hand-picked in the early morning, lightly pressed before relatively cool fermentation. This is still in its infancy but is gloriously well balanced, which guaratnees youth at 10yo, maturity at 20 and age yet further down the track.

Tyrrell's Wines, Australia
Tyrrell's Wines Winery Video

In 1858, Edward Tyrrell planted his first vines in the Hunter Valley. In 1959, Murray Tyrrell took control of the winery and started producing Tyrrell’s wines under their own labels. Tyrrell’s pioneered Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Australia and quickly received international recognition. While remaining a family company, Tyrrell’s has reached out to larger wine markets: in recent years, it has expanded its traditional Hunter Valley vineyard base to other famous vineyard areas in Australia.
